金通常用于电子组装，因为它不易氧化，但易于焊接。这使得黄金非常适用于开关和连接器的接触表面的电镀。在回流工艺期间，常用的锡基焊料合金通常会快速流失或溶于金，导致金导电图案被破坏。锡基合金还导致了已固化焊点引起裂纹或碎成小片。铟基合金，尤其是铟-铅（InPb）族中的铟基合金，比锡-铅（SnPb）焊料引发的金流失损伤更轻。
